Obituary Notice
Funeral services for John Harlin Yates, age 94, of Woodland, will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 15, 2012 from Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Wendell Ford officiating. Mr. Yates will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am to 12:00 am, on Saturday, December 15th.
Mr. Yates died, Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Yates is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Grant and husband Gene of Wedowee; two sisters, Frances Shaw of Montevallo and Sue Benefield of Wedowee; four brothers, Earl Yates of Pell City, Bob Yates of Woodland, Paul Yates of Wedowee and Mac Yates of Woodland; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren.
Mr. Yates was born, December 5, 1918, the son of Rhudy Payne and Mary Bell Gill Yates. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and had been a foreman for the Randolph County Highway Department. Mr. Yates is preceded in death by his wife, Gleamer Douglas Yates; his parents; one daughter, Faye Yates Crawford; one sister, Gladys Casey. Flowers will be accepted or donations to favorite charity.
