Funeral services for Durward Williamson age 77 of Newell will be held Sunday January 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Daniel and Rev. Lewis Cushings officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow in Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Williamson passed away Friday January 18, 2013 at Wedowee Hospital.
Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife Blanche Williamson of Newell; one daughter Mary McEachern of Wedowee; one son Wayne Williamson of Newell; one sister I. V. Sheets of Wedowee; one brother Lendle Williamson of Roanoke; six grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Wilson, Scott Johnson, Alan Williamson, Timmy Williamson, Larry Hudgins and Joel Sheets. Honorary pallbearers will be Garland Loveless, Ellis Ashley and Bobby Duke.
Mr. Williamson was born January 2, 1936 the son of Leonard and Flossie Boggs Williamson. He was a retired self-employed Heavy Equiptment Operator and a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home- Wedowee on Saturday January 19, 2013 from 4 till 8 PM.
