Obituary of Mary Beth Strain

Funeral services for Mary Beth Strain, age 89, of Woodland will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 1:00 pm from Zion Baptist Church with Rev. David Daniel and Rev. George Smitherman officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 7th. Mrs. Strain will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 12:00 pm on Saturday. Mrs. Strain died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Strain (wife, Judy) of Pensacola, FL, and Don Strain (wife, JoAnn) of Woodland; two grandchildren, Dawn Strain and Chris Strain. Pallbearers will be Harold McCarley, Gerald McCarley, Thomas McCarley, Danny Strain, Barry Edwards, and Hobart Rampy. Honorary pallbearer will be Glen McCarley. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Strain was born April 7, 1924, daughter of Albert McCarley and Delia Landers McCarley. She had been employed as a secretary with the Farm Service Agency Office and was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
