Obituary of Gwen Meadows

Funeral services for Edith Gwendolyn "Gwen" Meadows, 79, of Woodland will be 2:00 PM Monday June 17, 2013 from Harmony Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Wiggins and Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Meadows passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her residence. She is survived by her husband Burlin Meadows of Woodland, four sons; Phil Meadows of Newell, Dale Meadows of Woodland, Wayne Meadows of Newell, and Pierce Meadows of Woodland, ten grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren, four sisters; Mary dabs of Wadley, Barbara dabs of Roanoke, Rebecca Weathers of Roanoke, and Shelia Spradlin of Woodland, and four brothers; Gerald Spratlin of Wedowee, Harold Spratlin of Woodland, Mike Spratlin of Wedowee, and Ricky Spratlin of Woodland. Pallbearers will Jason Meadows, Jaime Meadows, Trent Meadows, Chad Meadows, Nathan Meadows, and Heath Meadows. Mrs. Meadows was born March 31, 1934, the daughter of Ernest and Florence Beck Spratlin. She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Thomas "Bud" Spratlin. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee on Sunday June 16, 2013 from 5 till 9 PM. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
