Funeral services for Willie Lyen Wright, Sr., age 44, of Atlanta will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. from Burks Chapel with Pastor Barry Milliner officiating. Burial will follow at the Burks Chapel Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friend at Benefield Funeral Home from 12:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013. Mr. Wright will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Survivors include: his wife, Cheryl Wright of Atlanta; his mother, Flora Wright of Wedowee; his grandmother, Minnie Prothro of Wedowee; two daughters, Stephanie Timmons of Atlanta and Olyvia Wright of Atlanta; two sons, Willie Wright, Jr., of Atlanta and Joshua Wright of Atlanta; one sister, Vickie Wright of Wedowee; one grandchild, Vanessa Freeman; two step-grandchildren; one stepson, DeMario Timmons of Atlanta; Aunt Mayola and Bill Houston of Wedowee, Aunt Willie Dean and Jimmy Roundtree of Wedowee, Aunt Maudie Brown of Roanoke, Uncle Herman and Jewell Pearson of Wedowee; nieces and nephews, Tanequa Collins, Jarquita Wright, Deonta Wright, Jermaine Wright, and Jada Wright; and one sister-in-law, Jaunita Wright of Woodland.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Pickard, Terry Pickard, James Brown, Tyrone Brown, Alfonso Staples, Leo Wilson, and James Glenn.
An Atlanta native, Mr. Wright was born on August 2, 1969, the son of Junior Andrew and Flora Pearson Wright. He was a laborer for the Dekalb County Watershed Management. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by one brother, Rickie Lewis Wright.
