Funeral services for Francis Lucille Whaley, age 79, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Glass and Jamie Kelly officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Wedowee City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, December 02, 2013.
Mrs. Whaley passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at her residence.
Survivors include: one son, Charlie Will Whaley (wife, Jean) of Wedowee; three sisters, Bertha Dutton of Wedowee, Virginia Hester of Valley, and Etta Joe Davis of Valley; one brother, Leon Whaley of Roanoke; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh Sims, Johnathan Whaley, Travis Dutton, Lee Richardson, Kevin Whaley, and Lowell Harmon.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Whaley was born on December 27, 1933, the daughter of Bill and Dee May Mitchell Whaley. She was Baptist by faith and had been employed as a winder operator at West Point Pepperell. Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dewey Whaley; five sisters; and one brother.
