Obituary of Cordell Steen Sutton

On the evening of July 5, our sweet and precious Mother, Cordell Steen Sutton, went home to be with Jesus; having been surrounded all that day by kisses, prayers, hymns, and sweet tears. She fought a good fight, she kept the faith, she finished her course--and now the prize! Mom was born November 14, 1929 to Jess Steen and Bertha Cofield Steen. She was preceded in death by her husband and our dad, Grady E. Sutton. She is survived by three children: daughter Ann Cosper and husband Al of Simpsonville, S.C., son Jeff Sutton and wife Dana of Oxford, AL, and son Mike Sutton of Sherman, TX; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one sister, Helen Neago of Toledo, Ohio. ------- Funeral services for Mrs, Sutton, age 84, of Simpsonville, SC, will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 2:00 PM from Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Mitchell, Rev. Mike Sutton, and Bro. Jeff Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, July 7, 2014. Mrs. Sutton will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday.
