Obituary of Luree Benefield

Funeral services for Luree Benefield, age 89, of Woodland, will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 10:30 am from Benefield Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 to 10:30 on Saturday. Mrs. Benefield died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at her home. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah McManus of Woodland; two grandchildren, Benjamin McManus of Woodland and Rebekah Daniel (husband, Andy) of Carrollton, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Daniel and Rachael Daniel; three sisters, Ruth Kirby (husband, John Frank) of Wedowee, Sarah Holmes of Wedowee and Wilda Harris (husband, George) of Grady. Pallbearers will be Mike Kirby, Mike Strain, Tim Eldridge, Tony Whiddon, Allan Daniel, Mark Carpenter and Charles Whiddon. Honorary pallbearers will be Susan Traylor, Diane Huddleston, Kelly Bass and Beverly Shelnutt. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Benefield was born October 17, 1924, the daughter of Joseph Onward and Irma Bailey Holmes. She was a member of West Broad Street Church of Christ and had been employed as a bookkeeper with the Randolph County Board of Education. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruell Benefield; and a brother, Harold Holmes.
