Obituary of Joseph Howard Kerr

Obituary Graveside services for Joseph Howard Kerr, age 81, of Madison will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 3:00 PM at the Wedowee City Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Burroughs officiating and Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kerr passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Survivors include his wife, Mavis W. Kerr of Madison; one daughter, Gloria Hutchinson (husband, Matt) of Birmingham; two grandchildren, Matthew Hutchinson and Rachel Hutchinson, both of Birmingham; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Evie Hutchinson; two sisters, Joyce Neighbors of Huntsville and Lucy Murphy of Wedowee; and two brothers, Tom Kerr of Huntsville and Floyd Kerr of Northridge, CA. A Randolph County native, Mr. Kerr was born on February 15, 1933, the son of Joseph Urvin and Alma Thomaston Kerr. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War and was an aeronautical engineer for NASA. Mr. Kerr was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Williams and Pearl Lowe; and one brother, Robert Kerr. The family will accept flowers or, in lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or one's favorite charity.
