Obituary of Mary Sue Barker

Funeral services for Mary Sue Barker, age 76, of Newell will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014, at 2:00 PM from Jordan Chapel Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Moore and Rev. Tony Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30-8:00 PM at the funeral home on Thursday, August 28, 2014. Mrs. Barker will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday. Mrs. Barker passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, in Ranburne, Alabama. Survivors include: one sister, Willa Nichols of Rex, GA, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Harry Clark, Barry Bryant, Tanner Reynolds, Jesse Reynolds, Todd Freeman, Phil Chasse', and Andy Barker. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Barker was born on October 29, 1937, the daughter of James Preston and Dee Mae Bell Ragsdale. She was a member of Jordan Chapel Congregational Methodist Church and had worked as a seamstress at Bremen-Bowdon Investment, Co. Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Barker; one brother; and two sisters.
