Obituary of John William Spradlin

Funeral services for John William "Johnny" Spradlin, age 72, of Woodland will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donald Spradlin, Rev. Eddie Veal, and Rev. Mark Tatum officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Mr. Spradlin passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Shelia Spradlin of Woodland; two daughters, Holly Scott of Woodland and Pamela Colburn of Talladega; five sons, Phillip Spradlin of Franklin, GA, Tim Spradlin of Prattville, Neil McCain of Woodland, Scott Spradlin of South Carolina, and Brad Jones of Oxford; special nephew, Chad Wysner of Woodland; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Angie Wysner of Woodland. Pallbearers will be Joe Jones, Bobby Crenshaw, Mike Spradlin, Scott Gladney, Chad Adams, and Ken Spradlin. A Woodland native, Mr. Spradlin was born on August 29, 1942, the son of Marvin and Earla Bailey Spradlin. He was Baptist by faith and worked as a custodian and substitute bus driver for Randolph County Board of Education. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dan Spradlin; one sister, Shirley Rice; and a niece, Lori Wysner.
