Obituary of Shelly McClain Smith

Funeral services for Shelly McClain Smith, age 35, of Heflin will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Congregational Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Mr. Smith passed away Monday, February 23, 2015. Survivors include his wife, Shannon Lynn Smith of Jacksonville; two daughters, Anna Faith Smith and Sarah Lynn Smith of Jacksonville; parents, Larry and Judy Smith of Heflin; paternal grandmother, Mary Jim Rice of Lineville; maternal grandmother, Ilene Triplett of Heflin; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Louise Burgess of Piedmont; brother, Jamie Smith (wife, Kayla) of Heflin; and nephew, Brycen Smith. A Randolph County native, Mr. Smith was born on June 6, 1979, the son of James Larry and Judy Triplett Smith. He was Baptist by faith. Mr. Smith was a 1997 graduate of Woodland High School and a 2000 graduate of Jacksonville State University and was an avid University of Alabama football fan. He was employed with Lowery Brothers.
