Obituary of Billy Ray Mallory

Funeral services for Billy Ray Mallory, age 73, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 12:00 PM from Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Bobby Jones, Rev. Ryan Conger, and Mike Mallory officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2015. Mr. Mallory will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday. Mr. Mallory passed away at his residence on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mallory of Wedowee; three sons, Michael Ray Mallory of Douglasville, GA, William Dean Mallory of Douglasville, GA, and Wayne Short of Richlands, VA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Earline Grant of Doran, VA. Pallbearers will be Wayne Short, Dean Mallory, Josh Price, Tyler Mallory, Jake Mallory, and Jason Shuler. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Conger, Blake Parker, Sherril Parker, Michael Rampy, Jack Gross, and Johnny Harper. A Richland, Virginia native, Mr. Mallory was born on July 15, 1942, the son of William and Agnes Simmons Mallory. He was Christian by faith and was a retired sheet metal worker for McKenney’s Sheet Metal. Mr. Mallory was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother; and one grandson, David Mallory. Memorials may be floral or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
