Obituary of LaShonda Houston

~~Funeral services for LaShonda Houston, age 44, of Wedowee, will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 1:00 PM from Zion Rest Baptist Church with Rev. William Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee, in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00PM (CST) on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Ms. Houston will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.

LaShonda was born on January 1, 1973 in Roanoke AL, to Beverly Houston. At a early age, she joined the Zion Rest Baptist Church, in Wedowee, Al., and after relocating to Columbus Ga., she then regularly attended Cascade Hill, located in Columbus.

LaShonda graduated from Randolph County High School in 1991. From there she attended and graduated from Southern Union State Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. LaShonda was employed at Columbus Water Works, in Columbus Ga, where she continued to further her education at Columbus University, majoring in Criminal Justice, until her illness came upon her.

LaShonda was called to her heavenly home, early Wednesday morning April 26, 2017. She leaves to cherish one daughter, Jaydn Houston of Wedowee; her mother Beverly Bailey of Wedowee; grandmother, Mae Houston of Wedowee; two sisters, Ashley Bailey of Wedowee, Anita (Willie) Hill of Valley; one brother, Michael (Michelle) Woody of Phenix City; 5 Aunts, Ethel of Anniston, Tressie of Roanoke, Joann and Linda of Wedowee, and Alice (San) of Phoenix City; a special friend Jerry of Columbus Ga, as well as a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Alanah and Ariyah.
