Obituary of James Arthur Crawford, Sr.

Funeral services for James “Jim” Crawford, age 73, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Norred officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Friday, June 30 before services begin.

Mr. Crawford passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Wedowee Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Crawford of Wedowee; seven sons, Artie Crawford of Florence, KY, Bruce Crawford of Elanger, KY, Christopher Lee Crawford of Florence, KY, Michael Edmonson of Deerfield Beach, FL, Donald Edmonson of Zephyrhills, FL, Chris Edmonson of Buchanan, GA, and Jeffrey Crawford of Dayton, OH; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Rose of Ft. Myers, FL.

A Carmel, California native, Mr. Crawford was born on June 20, 1944, the son of John Newton and Martha George Crawford.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and worked for Greystone Power – EMC in commercial accounts.  Mr. Crawford was a member of Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
