Obituary of Wendell Max Walker

Funeral services for Wendell Max Walker, age 59, of Newell will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sonny Martin and Rev. Joe Newborn officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, October 30, 2017.

Mr. Walker passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Walker of Newell; children, Joanna Walker Brown of Heflin, V. Dell Walker of Newell, Austin Max Walker of Newell; stepsons, Anthony Milson Eason and William Clay Eason, both of Newnan, GA; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Walker of Ranburne, Tina Walker of Ohatchee, and Ann Gay of Ranburne; and three brothers, Terry Walker and James Walker, both of Heflin, and Charles Barker, Jr., of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Glass, Jimmy Brown, Doug Smith, Ronnie Mayhaul, Charles Walker, and Logan Brown.

A Bowdon native, Mr. Walker was born on September 21, 1958, the son of Vernon and Betty Maxine Owens Walker.  He was Baptist by faith and worked as a cutter for Anthony Glass Logging Co.  Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents.
