A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. Please know that while your father’s death has left a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Please accept our condolences. DCAA Family

Don was a wonderful man always looking for some way he could serve his church and the people around him. I have been blessed to get to know him and his wife Debbie much better since we have been working on the same project in our church. I have been with them many times at the meetings, when he felt so bad he could hardly walk, but he kept pushing himself to come and do his part. Often he drove people home from the meetings who did not have transportation and he was available to help any who needed him even when he was in intense pain himself. He was quiet and did not talk much but when he did, his heart of compassion for those in need was evident. Several times Don mentioned that he was ready to go on if that was God's will for his life. He had no fear of death, but he also wanted to live and serve his community and His Lord as long as God gave him life. We are happy for him to be out of pain now and with the Lord, but we will miss him so much! Thank you, Don, for living out such a beautiful example of following Jesus even through your pain. Your life inspired me greatly.

The first time I met Don, I was turning around as he pulled into the church parking lot. He rolled his window down and before he could speak, Buddy popped his head out the window. I text Josh, "There's a guy here to see you......A guy with a poodle is here to see you." Don met me at one of the worst times of my life and he still wanted to know me and he gave me and opportunity, as well as others did, to live again. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know Don and you over the last two years.
While I am saddened for your loss and I happy for his complete healing. His presence will be missed, but because of his part in making sure Celebrate Recovery at Wedowee FUMC came to be, there are future generations that will now have a chance to not only survive, but to thrive. One of them could be a scientist that discovers a cure for Myasthenia Gravis, become a US President, or a pastor that leads a record number of people to Christ.
Debbie, you and your family are in my prayers.
