Obituary of Robert Wallace
Robert Gene “ Bob “ Wallace, age 90, of Noble, Oklahoma, died February 5, 2019. He was born in Elba, Alabama.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on February 16, 2019 at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home directing.
He was preceded in death by his father, R. M. Wallace; mother, Lola McKay Wallace; son, Greg Wallace; brother, Joe Wallace; sisters, Lillie Mae Browning, Jackie Cobb, Norma Weldon,Faye Holloway, Mattie Kay Holloway, Sue Waldrop, and Betty Jane Wallace.
Survivors include his son, Mark Wallace (Renee); brothers, Hilton Wallace, Rex Wallace, and Wayne Wallace; sister, Foy Saxon; grandchildren, Rachel Burrows(Garrett), Lauren Montalvo (Derek), Ashley Tate, and Sherry Wallace; great-grandchildren, Ethan Pearce Montalvo, Caleb Alexander Montalvo, and Wallace Lane Burrows; and numerous nieces and nephews. Thank you to Rance Wallace, nephew, for his special care and concern.
Bob graduated from Handley High School and Jacksonville State University. He was a successful high school football and basketball coach in schools in Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama including Randolph County High. He loved Alabama Football and would discuss it with anyone who would listen including Paul Finebaum. At age 90 he set the record for the longest call-in contributor on the Paul Finebaum Show.
After leaving coaching Bob resided in Noble, Oklahoma,where he worked for Kimball Humphrey Oil Well Security Company and also managed Mr. Humphrey's cattle farm until he retired.
