Obituary of Lula Mae Kerr Murphy

Graveside services for Lula Mae Kerr Murphy, age 90, of Newell will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Jordan Chapel Cong. Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Mitchell officiating.  Benefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Murphy will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday.

Mrs. Murphy passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Traylor Health and Rehab in Roanoke.

Survivors include: one sister, Joyce Neighbors of Huntsville; and two brothers, Thomas Kerr of Huntsville and Floyd Kerr of Northridge, CA.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Murphy was born on February 20, 1929, the daughter of Joseph Urvin and Alma Thomaston Kerr.  She was Baptist by faith and was a housewife.  Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Murphy; one son, Richard Murphy; and one daughter, Angela Murphy.
