Obituary of Dorothy Mae Mitchell Meadows

A celebration of life for Dorothy Mae Mitchell Meadows, age 85, of Newell, AL, will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel in Wedowee with Rev. Forrest Meadows officiating and a special song by Samuel Meadows. Burial will follow at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Mrs. Meadows passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Cleburne County Nursing Home.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Mitchell (Lynn), Edward Meadows (Denise), and James Meadows, all of Newell; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Connie Meadows of Newell; one brother, Robert Mitchell (Elsa) of Buford, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Mitchell, Christian Meadows, Connor Meadows, Sawyer Meadows, Gene Meadows, and Matthew V. Davis.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Meadows was born on September 27, 1933, the daughter of Lloyd and Mattie Jeter Mitchell. She was Methodist by faith and had worked as a seamstress. Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, S.E. Meadows; one sister; and one brother.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Cleburne County Nursing Home for their care and compassion over the past 6 years.
