Word of Gary's passing just made it to his former co-workers from Wright-Patterson AFB and it is safe to say that we are all shocked & saddened by the news. I will always remember Gary for his always-present smile and for being a kind, thoughtful person as well as being an excellent engineer. Prayers for peace and comfort to the Hale family at this sad time.

If I could talk to Gary......
Went to your celebration of life at Evergreen today. Wow! So many people, so many stories! Would love to chat with Uncle Tom to hear more of the shenanigans of which you were a part!
Because of your humble, unassuming nature, I’m sure you have no idea how your daily walk with Christ impacted so many people in their faith journey. Your two year Bethel Bible Study, with Vickie, many years ago at First Pres, filled so many gaps for me and enticed me to seek more study. Thank you both.
Then there was your always present smile. Don’t think I ever saw you without it. Again, you probably didn’t realize how much you lifted people up with just your presence. We couldn’t be around you and feel anything but a bit slap-happy and good! What a gift you had for bringing out the fun in folks!
And your sweet family....I hadn’t seen the boys since they were very young. Oh my, what handsome men they are! And your beautiful daughter-in-law is an added blessing I’m sure!
Your sweet Annie was strong and gracious,as always. But I’m thinking she was a “daddy’s girl” like me and your absence will take its toll. We all need to love on her.
And dear Vickie. She was joyous in seeing and greeting so many friends today. I’m sure it was bittersweet as she must miss you terribly. But with her certain faith that you and she will be reunited she carried it all off beautifully.
You and Vickie gave your family the combined gift of your faith, and therefore life eternal with our Heavenly Father, so as they grieve, they are comforted in knowing they will hold you close again.
Gary, we still find it hard to believe you are no longer with us, taken too soon, but as you said, everything is in God’s timing.
Much love to the Captain.
Sally

Gary embraced life with a warm spirit and an ever-present smile. He engaged all with respect. Finally, Gary has slipped through blue skies one last time to be with his Maker. Rest in peace brother.

Dear Vickie,
I was greatly saddened hearing the news of Gary’s passing. Gary was the kind of man that you only had to spend a brief time with to know that he was someone special. I want to thank you and Gary for taking the time to assist my daughter Mary Katherine, in learning the word of God. May Gary Rest In Peace and I look forward to being reunited with him one day in Gods Heavenly Kingdom.
Peace be with you,
Dave Van Wert

Please accept our heartfelt condolences on Gary's passing. He was a Godly man who raised up everyone that he touched. His unwavering faith was instrumental in helping me discover my spiritual gift even in his time of greatest need. He made all of us better. When my Dad passed, his Air Force buddies said he was TDY. I believe that he and Gary have gone to the greatest PCS of all time. May the Lord bless you with the peace and knowledge that he is home. Sadly we are unable to attend Gary's service. Dear Vicki & Family,
I offer my deepest condolences for the loss of your loved one. May God ease your pain with his wonderful love and ever present grace.
I met Gary while attending the University of Cincinnati and our mutual involvement in Campus Crusade for Christ. We shared an apartment his senior year along with John Shindeldecker and Chris Andres. Gary was quite the character, always making us laugh and he had that great smile. As I was not a very serious student, Gary inspired me with his hard work and discipline. It was a great blessing to me to have known him for that short amount of time, so long ago.

I had the pleasure of working with or near Gary only a few times at Delta. However, I remember him well as he had a great impact on me professionally and personally. I think that says it all about Captain Hale.

We are so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. Our prayers and heartfelt thoughts go out to family and all who knew Gary. We go way back to our new-hire class at Delta. Gary was a man who always had positive thoughts and a great attitude about life! It has been an honor to know him and to have worked alongside him during our years at Delta. He will be sorely missed. One day we will meet again on the other side and what a joy-filled day that will be. May the Lord comfort and soothe the pain of his departure. Love to all of his family during this tough time

Found memories of Capt Hale, he was the best inside and out of the cockpit. I'm very saddened to hear of this news. Although I only had the chance to work with him a few times, I know he lived and enjoyed life. My deepest condolences to the family.

Condolences to your family from a fellow Delta Pilot. Captain Hale was a true professional and a great example for fellow pilots to follow. He took his profession seriously but always found a way to see the brighter and best possible side of any situation. His “command climate” was admirable. He will be missed.
