Obituary of Oscar Marable

Funeral services for Oscar Marable, age 92, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Nation officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-7:00 PM on Friday, January 3. Mr. Marable passed away Monday, December 30, 2019, at Roanoke Healthcare. Survivors include a son, Sam Marable of Anniston, AL; longtime companion, Patrica Deeken; two brothers, Kevin Thorne (Wanda) of Columbus, GA, and Willie Marable (Linda) of Wedowee; and a host of other relatives. A Wedowee native, Mr. Marable was born on January 5, 1927, the son of Roosevelt and Henretta Nelson Marable. He was a member of Weathers Heights Church of Christ and worked as a carpenter for Dixie Construction Company. Mr. Marable was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Minnie Lee Guy, Pearl Barrow, Annie Mae Dorsey, and Velma Elizabeth Oneal; and three brothers, Arthur Marable, James Marable, and John Otis Marable.
