Obituary of June Marie Thackston

Funeral services for June Marie Thackston, age 65, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Little officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2020. Ms. Thackston passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. Survivors include: three sons, Derold Thackston (Chelsea), Jacob Thackston, and Isaac Thackston, all of Wedowee; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon Richards, Jr., of Powder Springs, GA, and Danny Richards of Dallas, GA. An Albany, Georgia native, Ms. Thackston was born on June 11, 1954, the daughter of Vernon and Minnie Polnick Richards. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee and was CEO of Thackston & Son Construction. Ms. Thackston was preceded in death by her parents.
