Obituary of Dan Smith

Graveside services for Dan Smith, age 77, of Wedowee will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Wedowee City Cemetery with Rev. David Little officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Wednesday before services begin.

Mr. Smith passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Smith of Wedowee; one son, Charles Daniel Smith, Jr., of Wedowee; stepdaughters, Lynne Barimah of Douglasville, GA, and Jean Luke of Panama City, FL; stepson, Andy White of Tallapoosa, GA; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tony Smith, Richie Smith, Steven Wilson, Jeff Brown, James Adams, and Ken Conaway.

An Atlanta native, Mr. Smith was born on May 11, 1943, the son of Joseph Dewey and Mary Lydia Herron Smith.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee and worked in telephone communications for AT&T.  Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and seven brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Wedowee’s Helping Hands Ministry.
