Obituary of Yvona Huddleston

Funeral services for Yvona Huddleston, age 91, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Corinth Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Dempsey and Rev. Zach Stone officiating.  Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2021.  Mrs. Huddleston will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.

Mrs. Huddleston passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include: two sons, Wayne Huddleston of Wedowee and Walter Huddleston of Wedowee; two grandchildren, Matthew Huddleston (Lea) and Kim Stone (Zach); four great-grandchildren, Jackson Stone, Lela Stone, Braxton Huddleston, and Garrett Huddleston; and caregivers, Sara Ramsey and Melissa Blalock.

Pallbearers will be Michael Bates, Alfred Huddleston, Jerry Huddleston, Alex Huddleston, Joey Brown and Jason Coffey.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Huddleston was born on August 16, 1929, the daughter of Joseph Henry Augustus “Gus” and Lelia Leone Rogers Blake.  She was a member of Corinth Methodist Church and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Huddleston was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Huddleston; and three sisters, Gwendola Teague, Marie McLeroy, and Lolita McLeroy.
