Obituary of Jessie James Marable

Mr. Jessie James Marable was born in Wedowee, Alabama, on October 16, 1948, to Arthur Marable and Alma Houston Marable Marbury.  He was a member of Stephens Mission Church, worked in construction in Atlanta, Georgia, for 25 years, and owned Marable Concrete for 22 years.  Jessie loved drag racing, of which he won numerous trophies in his early days. Later in life, he took a liking to Bingo.

Mr. Marable was preceded in death by his first wife, Jerrie Lee Marable and their union was blessed with four children; father, Arthur Marable; one sister, Mary June Knight; one brother, Charlie Marable; and a grandson, Anthony Lyn Higgins, Jr.

Mr. Marable passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley McKissic Knight Marable of Wedowee, AL; his mother, Alma Houston Marable Marbury of Alex City, AL; ten children, Annie Marable of Wedowee, Brock Marable (Renae) of Carrollton, GA, Chris Marable (Tammy) of LaGrange, GA, Sidney Marable of Wedowee, AL, Bridgett McKissic (Johnny) of Maryland, Kwoanza Knight, Scott Knight, Tiffany Knight (Chris), Antwoan Knight, Shirlisor Knight, all of Wedowee, AL; nine siblings, four sisters, Patricia Marable Hutchins of Alex City, AL, Denise Marable Cooley and Elizabeth Marable of Wedowee, AL, Lillie Marable Robertson (Gerald) of Douglasville, GA, and five brothers, Orlando Marbury (Sharoan) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Henry Marable Nelson (Melinda), Franklin Marable (Maina), Robert Marable Nelson, and Darrell Marable (Brenda), all of Wedowee; a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special niece who was always there, Mrs. Minta Annette Moss of Wedowee, AL.
