Obituary of Linda Ruth Houston Lawson

Graveside services for Linda Ruth Houston Lawson, age 63, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Zion’s Rest Baptist Cemetery with Rev. William Phillips officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021.

Ms. Lawson passed away Friday, January 22, 2021, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include: two sons, Nicholas Lawson of Carrollton, GA, and Jeffrey Lawson of Wedowee; six grandchildren; five sisters, Ethel Houston of Anniston, Tressie Ware of Roanoke, Joann Stone and Beverly Bailey, both of Wedowee, and Alice Berry (Sandy) of Phenix City; and a host of nieces of nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ms. Lawson’s nephews.

A Randolph County native, Ms. Lawson was born on August 8, 1957, the daughter of Wesley and Mae Tom Williams Houston.  She was a member of Zion’s Rest Baptist Church and was employed by Mohawk Industries.  Ms. Lawson was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Leon Houston, William Houston, Martin Houston, and James Houston; and a niece, LaShonda Houston.
