Memorial services for John Barry Ward, 76, of Wedowee will be held on 2:00 PM Central Time Friday, April 2nd, 2021, at Benefield Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Ward passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Tanner East Alabama Medical Center.
Survivors include: his wife, Ann Robinson Ward; one daughter, Robin Ward Ovens (husband, Rob) of Cumming, GA; granddaughter, Sophia Ovens; his mother, Novis Haynes Ward, of College Park, GA; three sisters, Brenda Barrett (husband, Loy) of Fayetteville, GA, Debbie Holbrook (husband, William) of Peachtree City, GA, and Pamela Withers, (husband, Stacy) of Newnan, GA; and his lifelong best friend, Woody Heath of Griffin, GA.
A Red Oak, Georgia native, Mr. Ward was born on March 21, 1945, the son of J. Q. and Novis Haynes Ward. He was Christian by faith and also served in The United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Ward worked for over 25 years as an airline mechanic for Piedmont. He also loved hotrods and old cars, as well as flea markets. He was a handyman who enjoyed fixing things that were broken. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Scott Ward.
