Obituary of Evelyn Prestridge White

Funeral services for Evelyn Prestridge White, age 84, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Wedowee with Bro. Mark Littleton and Bro. Ricky Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, July 12, 2021.

Mrs. White passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Payne (Lamar) of Wedowee; two grandchildren, Heather Stitcher (Toby) and Eric Payne, both of Wedowee; six great-grandchildren, Will Sledge, Payne Stitcher, Sara Katherine Stitcher, Addison Payne, Ansley Payne, and Carter Payne; two sisters, Rose Griffin and Catherine Williamson, both of Lineville, AL; and three brothers, Wayne Prestridge, of Lineville, AL, Awbrey Prestridge of Toccoa, GA, and Donnie Prestridge, Lineville, AL.

Pallbearers will be Toby Stitcher, Will Sledge, Payne Stitcher, Ronnie Yates, Eric Payne, and Lamar Payne.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Builders Sunday School Class.

A Clay County native, Mrs. White was born on April 8, 1937, the daughter of Elvin and Pearlie Nolen Prestridge.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee and worked as a supervisor at Butte Knit. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon White; and a son, Michael White.
