Obituary of Herbert B Higgins, Jr.

Funeral services for Herbert B. Higgins, Jr., age 70, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Emery officiating.  Burial will follow at Rock Springs Congregational Christian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

Mr. Higgins passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at his residence.

Survivors include: one daughter, Emily Harmon (Chris) of Roanoke; one son, Billy Higgins of Baker, FL; six grandchildren, JB Higgins, Magen Higgins, Shelby Higgins, Layla Higgins, Trevor Harmon, and Tori Harmon; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Debra Gilmore of Wedowee, Karen Higgins of Woodland, Janet Hughes of Wedowee, and Tina Whaley of Anniston; and three brothers, Eddie Todd of Wedowee, Tim Whaley of Sylacauga, and Truman Higgins of Woodland.

Pallbearers will be the Rock Stand Volunteer Fire Department.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Higgins was born in Anniston, Alabama, on December 17, 1950, the son of Herbert Higgins, Sr., and Dollie Bailey Higgins.  Mr. Higgins was a member of Rock Springs Congregational Christian Church and worked on the line crew for Pike Power Company.  Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Higgins; and two brothers, Gary Higgins and Robert Higgins.
