Obituary of Willie D Roundtree

Graveside services for Willie D. Roundtree, age 79, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Burke’s Chapel United Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Barry Milner officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Ms. Roundtree passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at Clay County Hospital in Ashland, Alabama.

Survivors include: one daughter, Anetra Garcia (Rene) of Roanoke; three sons, Willie B. Houston (Joyce) of Wedowee, Jerry Roundtree (Irene) of Lafayette, and Marvin Roundtree of Wedowee; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mayola Houston of Wedowee, Maudie Brown of Wadley, and Flora Mae Wright of Valley; and one brother, Herman Pearson of Wedowee.

A Wedowee native, Ms. Roundtree was born on February 22, 1942, the daughter of Homer and Minnie Heath Pearson.  She was a member of Burke’s Chapel United Methodist Church and had been employed by the Randolph County Board of Education as a lunchroom worker before retiring.  Ms. Roundtree was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
