Obituary of Gerald Higgins
Funeral services for Gerald Higgins, age 73, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Methodist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
Mr. Higgins passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at UAB Hospital on Birmingham.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Pate Higgins, of Roanoke; daughter, Kimberly Stallings (Chris), of Roanoke; and two sisters, Sarah Ann Vinson and Brenda Johnson, both of South Carolina.
Pallbearers will be Ted Rorrer, Chris Vinson, Mike Vinson, Dean Vinson, Chris Stallings, and William Cooper.
Honorary pallbearers will be W.C. Pate and Donnie Wayne Grant, Jr.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Higgins was born on September 4, 1948, the son of Howard and Parilee Nix Higgins. He was Christian by faith and was a member at Bethel West Baptist Church. Mr. Higgins honorably served in the United States Army in the Military Police where he was in the 82nd Airborne Division. He had worked in maintenance for Kimberly Clark. Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Zach Higgins; and brother, Cherl Higgins.
