Obituary of James Oren Green

Funeral services for James Oren Green, age 62, of Woodland will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church with Bro. David Daniel, Bro. Terry Eason, and Bro. John Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2022.  Mr. Green will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday.

Mr. Green passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Survivors include his wife, Belinda Green of Woodland; one daughter, Faith Ussery (Gene) of Atlanta; one son, Owen Henderson (Heather) of Woodland; five grandchildren, Abbey Ussery, Maddey Ussery, Madeline Henderson, Sadie Henderson, and Aubrey Henderson; one sister, Marie Gay (Phillip) of Woodland; and one brother, Alan Green (Shawn) of Anniston.

Pallbearers will be Justin Gay, Lane Gay, Richard Parrish, Caleb Brown, Garret Green, Benny Floyd, Wendell Shelton, and Gene Ussery, Jr.

A Woodland native, Mr. Green was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on July 9, 1959, the son of Alfred and Elender Drummond Green.  He was a member of Zion Baptist Church and worked as a poultry farmer and heavy equipment operator.  Mr. Green loved farming and the outdoors, his family, friends, and community, and he loved Alabama football.  He also enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke.  Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Woodland High School FFA program.
