Obituary of William Lee King
Funeral services for William Lee King, age 73, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Craig McClure and Rev. Curtis Spidell officiating and special music by Vernelle Billinglsey. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.
On September 22, 2022, he gained his wings surrounded by family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Emma King; five children, William (Patrice Daye) Cox, Katosha Richardson, Marvin King, Jerome Wilson, and Dwayne Godwin; sisters-in-law, Christine Roundtree, Linda Marable, and Joan Knight; four siblings, Dorothy Dupree, Janet Dupree, Deborah Gordan, and John Dupree, Jr.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Otis, William “Pee-Wee”, and Tyrone.
Pallbearers will be Dexter Gordon, Wesley Gordon, Tay Dupree, Tyrone Rutlin, and William Patterson.
Mr. King was born in Woodbury, GA on May 6, 1949 to parents Christine Meriwether, Tommy Lee Bell, and step-dad, John C. Dupree. He lived a very adventurous life filled with love and joy. To anyone that met him, he left you feeling that you were his favorite. He loved fishing and spending time with family and friends. He joins in death his parents; sisters, Josephine Dell and Dorothy Ann Love; and brother, Grady Lee King.
