Obituary of Marilyn Knight

Funeral services for Marilyn Williams Knight, age 75, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Henry Nelson officiating.  Burial will follow at Stephens Mission Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022.

Mrs. Knight passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Survivors include: sons, John A. Hopson (Saskia) of Sheffield, UK, Theodore Hopson, III of Wedowee, AL, Michael E. Hopson (Andrea) of Sylacauga, AL, Richard Eric Hopson (Amy) of Kempner, TX, Robert V. Hopson (Sheretta) of Fairburn, GA, Herschel W. Walker of Ashland, AL; two stepdaughters, Terill Drake and Sharon Bell; honorary son, Derrick Herring (Cenessa) of Lineville, AL; siblings, John Williams, Jr. of Wedowee, AL, Danny Williams (Minnie) of Lanett, AL, Stanley Williams of Wedowee, AL, Demetrius O’Neal (Margaret) of Spokane, WA, Sherwood O’Neal of Cleveland, OH, Christopher O’Neal (Wyvetta) of Opelika, AL, Connie Radford (Ron) of Roanoke, AL, Weltha Trumer of Douglasville, GA, Robert O’Neal Jr. (Aja) of Matteson, IL, Deborah Williams of Alpine, AL, and Zabrina Zwebber (John) of Minneapolis, MN; 29 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

Mrs. Knight was born in Talladega, Alabama on March 6, 1947. She is the daughter of the late John Williams Sr. and Adella J. O’Neal. Mrs. Knight was a member of Weathers Height Church of Christ and worked at Lamar Manufacturing and later retired from Wellborn Cabinet Company. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Williams Knight; brother, Paul Williams; and step-father, Robert O’Neal.
