Dear Pa, Words cannot describe the impact you’ve made on my life. I wear the title “Granddaughter” as proudly as you wore your title of “Grandfather” for 26 years. For as long as I can remember, I always enjoyed coming to visit you and Granma, whether it was a regular weekend or Spring breaks or Summers. I remember one Summer , not too long ago (and I’d never been asked before), we sat on the porch and you asked me: “Ali, in all the years you’ve come up here, what do you get out of it?” Astounded, I pondered for a split second and told him: “What do I get out of it? I get good memories of time with you and Granma. Whether that be going out to eat, watching TV, or sitting on the porch talking about anything from The Bible to the goofy Geico commercials from the last odd number of years. Why?” As he processed my response, he said: “I just wondered”. I meant every word. As I go through life, some of my best memories of you will include: Trips to the Mountains, weekday morning breakfast at Jack’s, conversations about everything from The Bible to Geico commercials, Donald Duck impressions, taking care of the Cows and feeding the fish, tall tales of the Wompus Cat, and so much more. Until I see you again, I love you Pa. Thank you for those memories.
