Obituary of Mary Catherine Johnson

Funeral services for Mary Catherine Johnson, age 83, of Auburn, GA, formerly of Anniston will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Jordan’s Chapel Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Chris Mitchell officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday before services begin.

Ms. Johnson passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at MeSun Hospice in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Survivors include: one daughter, Rechima Anderson Phillips of Lawrenceville, GA; one granddaughter, Ashleigh Phillips of Auburn, GA; one brother, Donald Johnson (Shirley) of Woodland; a niece Sheila Beard (Joey) and their two children, of Huntsville, AL., and first cousin, Jan Kibler (Tommy) of Atlanta, GA., and their four children.

Pallbearers will be Marty Nicholson, Scott Nicholson, Tommy Kilber, Joey Beard, and Phil Chasse.

A Newell, Alabama native, Ms. Johnson was born on November 11, 1939, the daughter of Herman T. and Dura Lee Stephens Johnson.  She was a member of Parker Memorial Church in Anniston and worked in banking before retiring.  Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Leroy Johnson and sister-in-law, Betty.
