Funeral services for Sarah Lucille Richardson, age 92, of Woodland will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM CST at Welcome Home Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Runnels, Rev. Michael White, and Rev. Richard Harrison officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30-8:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Mrs. Richardson passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sarah Joyce Robinson of Wedowee; one son, Robert “Buddy” Richardson, Jr. (Pat) of Carrollton, GA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Craft of Wedowee; and one brother, Edward Akins (Dee) of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Josh Wikle, Randy Richardson, Mason Spruill, Jason Spruill, Charles Agan, Alvin Bolan.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Richardson was born on July 8, 1930, the daughter of Rev.  George Garfield and Lily Thompson Akins.  She was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and worked as a seamstress at Bremen-Bowdon Investments.  Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert J. L. Richardson; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mattie Overton, Margaret Holloway, and Nell McIntosh; and two brothers, Loyd Akins and James Akins.
