First time I met Mr. William was my second week at the Pro Desk in 2022, This man knew more about the store than any associate you could find. Anytime you had a question on while to find a item in The Home Depot, He could tell you the location faster than you could look it up! He might not about been on the Payroll, however he will always be part of our Orange-Blood family and we will forever miss you. Thank you

I am very sorry to hear about William. I thought a lot of him. I always enjoyed our backyard conversations. We talked about several issues but usually it would end with politics. We always seemed to have similar opinions and agreed on current issues.
I considered him a friend as well as a neighbor.
I really appreciate him cutting mu grass and watching my house when I had to be out of town. I will definitely miss him.

Mr William was always so generous. If he heard us talking on zoom, he’d always stick his head in to say hi and to let us know what all veggies he was bring to share! One time he and Ellen and I were having tea at the kitchen table…talking home improvement projects, recipes, gardening, and critiquing his latest muffin experiment. I had brought a loaf of cheddar, bacon, jalapeño bread for them to try. The first thing Mr Can’t-Make-It-Too-Spicy-For-Me said as he tried it was, “NEEDS MORE JALAPEÑOS!!” But that didn’t stop him from finishing off the entire loaf!!

Sometimes you may never know the impact you make on people. My family gathered last night to say our final farewells to my Uncle Clyde. Outside of our family and those who grew up with him, he was William or Bill. My Aunt Ellen called him William because that was how he had introduced himself to her. But maybe the most "famous" name he was called came later in life, 'The Muffin Man'. As stories were told, we didn't really hear about his 20 years of service in the Air Force, or how just two years ago he hit a milestone of 750,000 safe miles driving a truck, but we heard stories about the muffins he made. I'll try not to be long winded telling this story, for talking endlessly was Clyde's place. When Clyde wasn't out on the road, he was fixing up something around their house, and of course this required trips to the local home improvement store, and apparently Home Depot was his favorite. Why he started making muffins and taking them to the employees there isn't quite clear, maybe it started as a gesture of thanks. But however it started, it grew exponentially. He made muffins from scratch, making all different kinds of flavors, and he even had a dedicated tote to haul them to Home Depot because he would make so many. Last night some of the associates from Home Depot came to the funeral home, bringing a beautiful white orchid adorned with a small version of an orange Home Depot smock, honorarily electing him 'Associate of The Month.' Now he didn't work there, but the associates said he might as well have. They told us stories of how he knew the layout of the store better than they did, how he always knew where the best deals in the store were, of how he'd help other customers (probably most of the time unprompted and just offering guidance and advice), how they tried to get him to sign up for the Pro Desk so he could get even better deals because he was always in there buying stuff, and how they would joke with him that they were going to give him a smock and a job because he was practically already working there. And the muffins, we heard lots of stories about him bringing in those homemade muffins, and how they'd still be warm when he took them up there. That little smock they gave him, they wrote his name on it, William aka The Muffin Man. And in those pockets on the front were cards from the store associates where they had written stories and sweet sentiments. Last night, after his service flag was folded and presented to my aunt, our family got together to eat. And after our bellies were full, those cards were read outloud. All 35 of them. 35 store associates that in some way he made an impression and impact on by just honestly being who he was. And we were told that not everyone got an opportunity to write a card, so it goes far beyond that. I hope Uncle Clyde, William, Bill, The Muffin Man, knows how the little gestures he did made such a large impact, because we his family are so enriched in our hearts to know. He will definitely be missed.

Muffin Man was always the sweetest when he came in to Home Depot. He was always smiling!! I loved his muffins he would bring us and especially the cookies he brought just for me!! Chocolate chip banana!! He even brought me the recipe!! I remember him telling me one time that he just got back home from a trip, but he needed to come by the store first because you couldn't find the sales if you didn't look for them. Muffin Man will be deeply missed by us all!!

I grew up with the Wortham Family. One memory I have of Clyde was he was always pulling jokes. They had just cut County Road 4 and it was still dirt, on the banks were big holes that we all played in and would call them our caves. Clyde with a couple of the other Brothers would hide in those caves as we called them and wait for us to come up the road and jump out and scare the daylights out of us! We had some good times growing up. Neighbors back then were like one big Family. Hope this made you smile! My prayers are with the Family and so sorry for your loss!

This is a great loss. All of the associates at the Oxford Home Depot loved when he came to visit. We all called him the Muffin Man and he was always smiling and laughing. He would always stop and help a customer find what they were looking for. We told him one of these days we are going to have to give you an apron. RIP

We will miss our "Bargain" hunter! William was so good at finding the best bargains and specials!! He never forgot his friends when he did! We would often run into him at Home Depot or Lowe's finding just the right stuff we could all use!! Rest in Peace, William!

William, or as we knew him at Home Depot, the Muffinman, made a big impact on the life of so many of our associates. With the world the way it is now, it was so nice to look up and see a smiling face. He knew our store better than most of us, always willing to help other customer we would kid him about getting him an apron and putting him on payroll. We looked forward to his homemade muffins and breads he would being in each week. The Muffinman will be greatly missed here, he had become part of our Orange family. RIP William. Prayers for his wife and family
