Obituary of Charles E. Condrey

Funeral services for Charles Eugene Condrey, age 87, will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow at Pineywoods Church of Christ-Wortham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

Mr. Condrey passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at McGuffey Health Care in Gadsden, Alabama.

Survivors include: two daughters, Tammie Condrey and Nicol Condrey-Simeonov and granddaughter, Sophia Simeonov, all of Arlington, MA; one son, Farrell Condrey of South Carolina; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren of South Carolina; two sisters, Francis Gore and Carolyn Smith, both of South Carolina; and two brothers, Tommy Condrey and Kenny Condrey, both of South Carolina.

A South Carolina native, Mr. Condrey was born on March 27, 1936, the son of John Calvin Condrey, Sr., and Mary Alice Kerr Condrey.  He was Baptist by faith and was a retired United States Army veteran and also a retired sheriff’s deputy in Colorado.  Mr. Condrey was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Wenzel Condrey; his parents; one brother, John Calvin Condrey, Jr.; and one sister, Mary L. Pace.
