Obituary of Barbara Dean Key Blanks

Funeral services for Barbara Dean Key Blanks, age 79, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Dempsey officiating.  Burial will follow at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 PM On Sunday before services begin.

Mrs. Blanks passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Lineville Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include: one sister, Dianne Smith (Tony) of Wedowee; one brother, Larry Key (Sondra) of Valley; Robyn Wortham Thompson (Jonathan) of Wedowee; grandchildren, Braxton, Brody, Brantlee, and Bryer, who all knew her as “Nana”; best friend, Agatha Gay; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Braxton Lackey, Brody Wortham, Anthony Key, Ben Snider, Chad Blanks, and Eddie Lindley.  Quinton Blanks will serve as honorary pallbearer.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Blanks was born on June 19, 1944, the daughter of Louis Dean and Nealie Daugherty Key.  She was Baptist by faith and worked as a seamstress for Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company before retiring.  Mrs. Blanks was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jessie Blanks; and one brother, Louis Key.
