Obituary of Truman Morrison
Memorial services for Harry “Truman” Morrison, age 78, of Wedowee, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Dempsey, Bro. Marty Schwartz, and Bro. Brandon Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth North Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.
Mr. Morrison passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Noland Hospital in Anniston, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family.
Survivor include his wife, Gloria Waters Morrison of Wedowee; three daughters, Lee Anne Mullett (Doug) of New Hampshire, Tracy Joyce (Tommy) of Birmingham, and Talia Sims (Reco) of Wedowee; two sons, Phillip A. Morrison of Oxford and Tal Morrison (Nikki) of Opelika; 11 grandchildren, Sam and Ben Mullett, Chambers and Marilyn Joyce, Justin and Emily Huckaby, Sadie Grace Morrison, Jake and Judd Morrison, and Nick and Talee Sims; one sister, Judy Cockrell of Daphne, AL; three brothers, W. A. “Bill” Morrison of Pensacola, FL, Fred Morrison of Delta, AL, and Wendell “Febo” Morrison of Folsom, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Randolph County, Alabama native, Mr. Morrison was born on July 21, 1945, the son of William Artemus and Velma T. Williams Morrison. He was Baptist by faith and was owner/operator of two businesses, Morrison’s Grocery and Friendly Gas, and manager of Dowdle Gas. Mr. Morrison also worked as a bus driver for Cleburne and Randolph County Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Thomas J. “Tom,” Milford, Jack, Billy Joe, Byron, George, and Willis Morrison; and one sister, Dorthy Faye Albright.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the American Lung Association in the name of Truman Morrison.
