Obituary of Geneva Carol Lesueur

Funeral services for Geneva Carol Huddleston Lesueur, age 95, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Wendell Ford, Rev. Terry Eason, and Rev. David Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.

Mrs. Lesueur passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Traylor’s Retirement Community in Roanoke.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Lesueur of Wedowee; daughter-in-law, Faye Bassett (Charles) of Lineville; granddaughter, Angela Wardlaw of Angleton, TX; great-granddaughter, Maegan Gilleland of Oxford; nieces, Melissa Warren of Woodland, and Alice Strain and Mary Mote, both of Wedowee; and nephew, Roy Huddleston of Birmingham.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Strain, Cadon Strain, James Mote, and Charles Mote.

A Peachtree City, GA native, Mrs. Lesueur was born on May 12, 1929, the daughter of Lewis Pate and Ruby Mae Kiker Huddleston.  She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and worked as a manager for Sea Kove Motel before retiring.  Mrs. Lesueur was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Johnny Calhoun, granddaughter, Teresa Calhoun; two sisters; eight brothers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be floral.
