Obituary of Dervin Bradford Gosdin
Funeral services for Dervin Bradford Gosdin, age 83, of Jackson, GA, will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM CDT Jordan’s Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Newell, Alabama with Bro. Cleve Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends there at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM CDT on Tuesday before services begin.
Mr. Gosdin passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Governor’s Glen Assisted Living in Forest Park, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Brand Gosdin; three daughters, Tammy Thompson (Dow) of Fairburn, GA, Wendy Goettig (Ron) of Hiawassee, GA, Vickie Wilson (Alan) of Buford, GA; one son, Randy Gosdin (Sonja) of Jackson, GA; 12 grandchildren, Kris Goettig (Lauren), Beth Cahoon (Mike), Jonathon Brand (Jessica), Jacob Brand, Abbie Traylor, Courtney Meeler (Gavin), William Gosdin, Byron Wilson, Ethan Maddox, Emily Gosdin, Graeson Maddox, and Garrett Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Renee Brand, Hazel Cahoon, and Norah Cahoon, with one on the way; and two sisters, Lynne Johnson and Diane Turner, both of LaGrange.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Gosdin was born on November 12, 1940, the son of Kernel Toney and Ester Lou Gosdin. He was a member of People’s Baptist Church in McDonough, GA, and retired as an inspector at the Ford Motor Company after 37 ½ years of employment. Mr. Gosdin was a family man who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved fishing and enjoyed playing dominoes in his spare time. Mr. Gosdin was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jane Smith, Juanita Anderson, Gervis Gosdin, Carol Stiles, Toney Gosdin, and Melody Gosdin.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Association or to an assisted living center of one’s choice in his memory.
