Obituary of Bobby Joe Sessions
Funeral services for Bobby Joe Sessions, age 93, of Wetumpka will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Abanda Baptist Church with Dr. Neal Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Wadley City Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-2:00 PM on Wednesday before services begin.
Mr. Sessions passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his home.
Survivors include: three sons, Robert Wayne Sessions (wife, Susan) of Millbrook, AL, Mark David Sessions (wife, Victoria) of Midway, TX, and Gregory Joe Sessions (wife, Ann) of Wetumpka, AL; 12 grandchildren, Steven Wayne Sessions, Elizabeth Sessions Wilkerson, Matthew David Sessions, Travis Alan Sessions, John Phillip Sessions, Brennon James Sessions, Leslie Sessions, Gordon Thomas Sessions, Joey Wayne Warner, Brittany Sessions, Elizabeth Logsdon Myers, and Marisa Paige Kimiko Logsdon; and 23 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Pallbearers will be Travis Sessions, John Sessions, Brennon Sessions, Steven Sessions, Matthew Sessions, Thomas Sessions, Carson Kirk, and Ben Wilkinson.
An Abanda native, Mr. Sessions was born on August 12, 1930, the son of James Dowdell and Minnie Hilda Shockley Sessions. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts where he was a flightline master crew chief until he retired. Mr. Sessions was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel Carson Sessions; three brothers, Ross Shockley Sessions, James Sessions, and Charles Dennis Sessions; two sisters, Margaret Sessions Sutton and Doris Sessions Weaver; and three nephews, Jerry Wayne Sessions, Michael Cameron Weaver, and Charles Dexter Sessions.
