Obituary of Kristy Leigh Sims

Celebration of Life

A Georgia native, residing in Alabama, Mrs. Sims was born on July 21, 1983, the daughter of Ronald and Teresa Wade Holmes. 

Mrs. Sims passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at her residence. 

Kristy was Baptist by faith and a hard worker, working over 20 years at Mohawk and later as a supervisor at Southwire until death. 

Survivors include her husband, Gregory Sims, her pride and joy, one son, Dontavian Gipson of Wedowee; loving mother-in-law, Betty Sims of Wedowee; four sisters, Tiffany Wade of Carrollton, GA, Lynda Meadows of Blockton, AL, Kelly Lane (Chris) of South Korea, and Kayla Holmes of Lanett; and two brothers, Michael Holmes of Lanett and Jimmy Holmes of Atlanta, GA.

Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her mother; brother, Jason Holmes and grandparents, Mike and Linda Camp. 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Home Chapel in Wedowee, AL.  A visitation will be on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 4:30 PM also at Benefield Funeral Home.  Mrs. Sims will lie in state on Saturday prior to services.
