Funeral services for Richard Gregory Couch, age 77, of Wedowee, will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with his family officiating. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens in Gadsden.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday before services begin.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Amelia McCord Couch of Wedowee; his daughter, Carrie Hood (Gene) of Gadsden; step-daughter, Laura Melissa Crain of Wedowee; brothers, Michael Couch (Laura) and Larry Couch, both of Gadsden; two grandchildren, Madeleine Lasseter and Kyle Lasseter; sister-in-law, Sue Dewees; brother-in-law, John McCord (Effie).

Pallbearers will be Larry Couch, Kyle Lasseter, Gene Hood, Sam Couch and Jeff Lasseter. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Berry, Randy Berry, Mark Dupont, Brad Laney, Stacy Roundtree, Emma Sansom class of 1965, and the men and women of Truth Seekers Sunday School Class.

A Gadsden native, Mr. Couch was born on December 3, 1946, the son of George Samuel Couch and Beatrice Johnson Couch.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wedowee. He had previously worked in banking, finance, restaurant management, and he eventually retired as a truck driver for his own company, Couch Trucking. Mr. Couch was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be floral or the family suggests donations to Alzheimer’s Foundation (322 Eighth Avenue, 16^th Floor, New York, NY 10001) or the local Humane Society (101 Animal Shelter Road, Wedowee, AL 36278).
