Obituary of J.R. Fincher

Funeral services for J.R. Fincher, age 84, of Woodland, will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. David Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025. Mr. Fincher will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.
Mr. Fincher passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy Fincher of Woodland; two daughters, Belinda Green and Donna Young, both of Woodland; one son, John Fincher (Shannon) of Woodland; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Emmalou Crawford of Woodland, Jennifer Newman of Zephyr Hills, FL; and Onealia Camp of Carrollton, GA; a host of nieces and nephews; and his caretaker and special friend, Amanda Truitt.
Pallbearers will be Owen Henderson, Caleb Brown, Bradley Gibbs, Ben Castleberry, Gene Ussery, Cory White, and Chuck Yarbrough.
A Woodland native, Mr. Fincher was born on September 19, 1940, the son of Emmett Oneal and Daisy Green Fincher. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Fincher worked as a shipping clerk for Southwire before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, James Green; two brothers, Kayron Fincher and Jeffery Fincher; and one sister, Edwina Bailey.
