Services for Garry Gaines Bowen, age 55, of Roanoke will be held Sunday November 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM from Potash Church of God with the Rev. Ken Brooks and Rev. Keith Benefield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bowen passed away Friday November 6, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Bowen is survived by three daughters, Laura ( Robbie) Dobson of Walnut Cove, N.C., Elizabeth ( Shaun Harper) Rollins of Roanoke, and Amanda ( Corey) Shubert of Townley, one son Keith ( Shelley) Gilliland of Roanoke, his mother Edythe Spears Bowen of Roanoke, his grandmother Bonnie Spears of LaGrange, Ga., four sisters Cheryl Hanner of Woodland, Angela Bowen of Montgomery, Faith Bowen of Roanoke and Connie Bowen of Carrollton, Ga., three brothers Larry Bowen of Woodland, Dwyatt Bowen of Alexis, N.C., and Darrel Bowen of Roanoke. Twelve grandchildren
Pallbearers will be Larry Bowen, Andy Bowen, Steven Hanner, Dwyatt Bowen, Steve Hanner, Larry Brown and Darryl Bowen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dalton Rollins, Shaun Harper, Robert Dobson III, Walker Dobson, Skylar Harper, Brayson Dobson, Damian Gilliland and Landon Gilliland.
Mr. Bowen was born September 18, 1954 the son of Andy and Edythe Spears Bowen. He was a member of Randolph County Cattleman's Association, he was disabled and a member of Potash Church of God. Preceded in death by his father Andy Bowen grandfather W. G. Spears, and grandparents Zachariah and Sarah Bowen.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home on Saturday November 7, 2009 from 5 till 8 PM. Mr. Bowen will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
