Obituary of Sarah Maudie Thompson

Obituary Notice Funeral services for Sarah Maudie Smith Thompson, age 95, of Savannah, Ga., formally of Woodland, was held Monday February 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM from Providence Baptist Church with Rev. David Daniel and Rev. Tony Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Thompson passed away Saturday January 30, 2010 at John Wesley Villas in Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son Johnny ( Carolyn) Thompson of Savannah, Ga. a sister, Mary Smith Kirby of Roanoke, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Thomas Green, Chuck Smith, Rod Lum, Joe Thompson, J.R. Fincher and Hobart McManus. Mrs. Thompson was born July 15, 1914 the daughter of Shell W. and Verdie Green Smith, she was retired from Breman-Bowden Investment Company, and a member of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Thompson loved her family, friends and neighbors. She spent most of her time caring for others.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Woodrow Thompson, a sister Dicie Gosdin, and three brothers, Hoyt, Fred and John Will Smith. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee from 10:30 till !2:30 on Monday February 1, 2010. Mrs. Thompson will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
